Luis de Góngora
Luis de Góngora (Córdoba 1561-Córdoba 1627) es el máximo exponente de la poesía culterana. Son las Soledades y Polifemo sus dos más destacadas obras. Considerado como un clásico en su época, por su suntuosidad y oscuridad, sus obras fueron desestimadas a partir del siglo XVIII. En el siglo XX, Rubén Darío y la Generación del 27, en especial, Dámaso Alonso, rescataron su poesía y situaron al cordobés como uno de los más grandes e influyentes poetas españoles.
Luis de Góngora (Cordoba 1561-Cordoba 1627) was the greatest poet of the Spanish baroque period. His two major works were The Solitudes and the Fables of Polyphemus and Galatea. Very highly regarded during his time, his intricate, dark style then led to his work being largely ignored from the 18th to the 20th centuries, when Rubén Dario and the poets belonging to the Generation of '27, especially, Damaso Alonso, re-established his reputation so that now he is seen as one of the greatest and most influential Spanish writers of all time.
