Inca Garcilaso
El Inca Garcilaso (Cuzco, Perú 1539-Córdoba 1616) puede considerarse el primer escritor hispanoamericano. Hijo de un noble español y de una princesa inca, sus escritos estarán influidos por su mestizaje. En 1561 se trasladó a España, residiendo en Montilla hasta 1588 cuando pasó a Córdoba, en cuya catedral está enterrado. Su principal obra son los Comentarios Reales, donde los recuerdos de su infancia se mezclan con las tradiciones del Perú.
The Inca Garcilaso (Cuzco, Peru 1539-Cordoba 1616) can be regarded as the first Hispano-American writer. The son of a Spanish nobleman and an Inca princess, his writings were strongly influenced by his mixed origins. In 1561 he moved to Spain and took up residence in Montilla where he remained until 1588. He then moved to Cordoba, in whose Cathedral he was buried. In his most important work, Comentarios Reales, he combines memories of his childhood with the traditions of Peru.
