Duques de Montpensier
Los duques de Montpensier, Antonio de Orleans (Neully, Francia 1824-Sanlúcar de Barrameda 1890) y María Luisa de Borbón (Madrid 1832-Sevilla 1897), eran hijos de Luis Felipe I y de Fernando VII, respectivamente. Desde 1849, residieron en San Telmo, convirtiéndose en el centro de la vida social de Sevilla, en lo que se vino a llamar "Corte Pequeña". Su influencia fue enorme, no solo por sus reformas en el palacio, también por su mecenazgo de artistas o por el impulso que dieron a la Semana Santa. Tras la Revolución del 68 debieron exiliarse, aunque la infanta, ya viuda, volvería a habitar el palacio años más tarde. En 1893 donó los jardines que desde entonces llevan su nombre.
The Dukes of Montpensier, Antonio de Orleans (Neully, Francia 1824-Sanlúcar de Barrameda 1890) y María Luisa de Borbón (Madrid 1832-Seville1897), were the children of Luis Felipe I and Fernando VII respectively. They lived in San Telmo from 1849, transforming it into the centre of Sevillian social life, in what would become known as the "Small Court". Their influence was huge, not only because of the reforms they carried out on the palace, but also as patrons of artists and the impulse they gave to the Easter Week celebrations. They were forced into exile after the Revolution of 68, although the princess, by this time a widow, returned to inhabit the palace at a later date. In 1893 she donated the gardens which bear her name.
