Blas Infante (Casares, Malaga 1885-Seville 1936) was the ideologue of Andalusian nationalism. His view of Andalusia is reflected in his work, Ideal Andaluz (1915). He proposed the green and white colours for the Andalusian flag, designed the region's coat of arms (based on the one of Cadiz), and wrote the lyrics for the anthem (the melody was adapted from a religious song sang by Ecija's harvesters). He was executed by a firing squad in 1936.
