Alonso Cano (Granada 1601-Granada 1667), pintor, escultor y arquitecto, es el artista más versátil del barroco español. Se formó en Sevilla en los talleres de Pacheco, donde trató a Velázquez, y de Montañés. En la catedral de Granada se pueden ver sus obras maestras, la portada de ésta, la escultura de la Inmaculada y la serie de pinturas de la Vida de la Virgen.
Painter, sculptor and architect Alonso Cano (Granada 1601-Granada 1667), is the most versatile artist of the Spanish baroque period. He trained in the workshops of Montañes, and Pacheco, where he met Velazquez. His master works include the doorway of Granada's Cathedral as well as a sculpture of the Immaculate and a series of paintings depicting the Virgin's life, which are also housed in the Cathedral.
