Alfonso X el Sabio (Toledo 1221-Sevilla 1284), rey de Castilla y de León, escribió en el Alcázar gran parte de sus famosos escritos. A él se debe la construcción de las Atarazanas y de la iglesia de Santa Ana. Por la fidelidad de Sevilla en la guerra civil contra su hijo Sancho, le otorgó el lema de NODO: "no me ha dejado". Alfonso X murió en 1284 en el Alcázar y está enterrado en la capilla Real de la Catedral.
Alfonso X (Toledo 1221-Seville 1284), king of Castile and of Leon, penned a large part of his writings in the Alcázar. He was responsible for the construction of the Atarazanas and the Church of Santa Ana. He was granted the motto NODO "no me ha dejado" (he hasn't left me) in recognition of his loyalty to the city of Seville against his son Sancho during the civil war. Alfonso X died in 1284 in the Alcázar and is buried in the Royal Chapel in the Cathedral.
